Old Forester Whiskey

Our rare selection of Old Forester whiskey is perfect for connoisseurs looking for an old-school spirit. As such, it’s only expected each batch is matured in American white oak barrels and ex-Speyside casks. From the casks, you may find notes of oak, sherry and wine. Whereas, the original mix offers a strong, spicy start with a sugary finish.

Old Forester distillery was founded and released the First Bottled Bourbon™ in 1870. During prohibition in the 1920s, many distilleries struggled to produce whiskey. However, Old Forester persevered, becoming the sole producer of bourbon before, during and after the prohibition era.

Old Forester Distillery

Old Forester distillery controls their entire whisky-making process from start to finish. The mash is formed of corn, rye and malted barley, which is distilled in a copper column beer still before being barrelled at room temperature. Finally, it is matured, tasted and sold.

To bring out the sweet flavours of Old Forester whiskey, pair with chocolate truffles. If you prefer a deeper taste, a bowl of mixed nuts will do the trick. You can also try a cheese platter and smoked meats to add new flavours between whisky sips.

What makes Old Forester unique?

Old Forester is a unique brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, known as the "first bottled bourbon." Established in 1870 by George Garvin Brown, it was the first bourbon to be sold exclusively in sealed bottles, setting a standard for quality and consistency. The brand also has historical significance, as during Prohibition (1920-1933), Old Forester was one of the few bourbons that was granted legal access to continue production.

What does Old Forester whisky taste like?

Old Forester whisky is primarily aged in new American oak, giving it a distinctive flavour profile. The bourbon is initially fruit-forward, with vanilla providing much of the sweetness. The spice from the rye is present, starting sharp but softening quickly.

Is Old Forester a good investment whiskey?

Yes, Old Forester is considered a good investment whiskey due to its long history as one of America's historic bourbon brands. It was also one of the first bourbons to be sold exclusively in sealed bottles, adding to its collectibility.
