What is it?

This is the whisky that really shows off what Springbank can do with a bit more time in the cask. Aged for 15 years, this 2022 release leans more into sherry casks than the 10, giving it extra weight, richness, and that moody Campbeltown complexity we crave.

Same ethos as always:

  • Natural colour

  • Non-chill filtered

  • Bottled at 46% ABV

  • Handmade at one of the last truly independent distilleries in Scotland

First Impressions?

Where the 10 was gritty and wild, the 15 pulls up in a Harris tweed jacket and a faint aroma of pipe tobacco. This is Campbeltown with polish. Darker fruits. Deeper wood. More mature character.

Still unmistakably Springbank though — you’re not getting out of the funk that easy.

Quick Flavour Snapshot:

Taste Area Notes
Nose Leather, raisins, dark chocolate, fireplace ash, seaweed
Palate Stewed plums, espresso, bitter orange, soft peat smoke
Mouthfeel Silky, weighty, slightly drying
Finish Medium-long: tobacco leaf, old oak, salt, lingering spice

How Does It Taste?

It opens with a leathery, sherried richness. Think fruitcake soaked in espresso, with a briny puff of smoke sneaking through. There’s black cherry, cinnamon, a touch of menthol and cocoa nibs in there too.

More refined than the 10, but still earthy and a bit salty — just aged into something smoother and more contemplative.

Score: 8.7/10

This is for people who want more weight in their whisky. The 15 takes all the core Springbank DNA — brine, earth, funk — and wraps it in old oak and sherry-soaked richness.

Worth It?

For around £200, this is a serious whisky with pedigree and a distinct voice. It’s not overpowered by sherry or peat — it balances them like a tightrope walker. If you're already a Springbank fan, you probably know what you're in for. If you're new? This is where things start to get interesting.
