A brief History
Aber Falls, Wales. Founded in 2017
You might think of whisky and picture the Highlands, but let me take you somewhere a little different — North Wales. Nestled at the foot of the Carneddau mountains, just a stone’s throw from the stunning Aber Falls waterfall, this distillery is doing something bold. Aber Falls is bringing whisky back to Wales, and doing it with a modern twist and a heap of local pride.
Launched in 2017, Aber Falls is the first whisky distillery in North Wales in over 100 years. But don't let the youth fool you. This place has been busy turning heads with its focus on local ingredients, sustainability, and a genuine sense of place. Everything from the grain to the water is Welsh, and it shows in the whisky — fresh, fruit-forward, and smooth with just the right kick. If you’re into the idea of sipping something that's both distinctly local and genuinely good, this distillery is absolutely one to watch.
And yes — I have stood by that waterfall, dram in hand. It’s magic.

Visitor Centre & Tours
Yes, Aber Falls has a Visitor Centre — and it’s as slick as their branding. The tours are casual, fun, and give you the full picture, from still room to sampling room. You even get to try before you buy, which let’s face it, should be standard.

There’s also a stylish café and shop on-site, where you can try everything from the signature single malt to their Welsh gins (yes, they make those too).
