A brief History
Belmont Farm, Virgina, USA. Founded in 1933
From Virginia Soil to the Glass
Belmont Farm is a family‑owned distillery nestled in Virginia, USA, with a history of whiskey production on the land stretching back over 400 years. While the farm itself is old, the modern distilling operations began in the 1980s. The owners, Chuck and Jeanette Miller, grow their own grains (corn, wheat, barley) on their 195‑acre farm and oversee the full process from field to bottle. That control gives their whiskies a genuine “grain to glass” integrity.
What sets Belmont Farm apart is their use of a copper pot still dating from 1933, a method slower and more flavour‑preserving than large industrial column stills. They produce a range of spirits—including corn whiskey, bourbon, and American single malt—alongside their signature lines under the Kopper Kettle label. Their Kentucky‑style ageing is complemented by local touches, such as resting the mash on Virginia oak and apple wood early in maturation. The result is whiskey with character, balance, and a strong sense of place.
