A brief History

Bivrost, Norway. Founded in 2015

Whisky at the Edge of the World

Imagine sipping whisky made beneath the northern lights, surrounded by icy fjords and Viking history. That’s Bivrost. It’s not your typical Highland distillery with misty hills and old stone buildings. Instead, this Norwegian distillery sits in Aurora Spirit Distillery, the world’s northernmost whisky distillery — just a few hundred miles from the North Pole, right in Arctic Norway.

Bivrost is a brand rooted in Norse mythology. The name comes from the legendary “Bifröst,” the rainbow bridge that connects the human world to the gods — a bold metaphor for the bridge between old traditions and new-world whisky-making.

They’ve been quietly ageing whisky since 2016, using pure Arctic spring water, locally grown barley, and a mix of sherry, bourbon, and virgin oak casks. The result? A whisky style that’s clean, fresh, and a bit wild — just like the land it comes from.

Taste Profile

Fruity

Sweet Oaky / Woody

Bivrost isn’t trying to mimic Scotch or Irish styles. Its flavour profile leans more toward clarity, elegance, and subtle complexity — perfect for those who enjoy nuance over brute force.

Bivrost is renowned for its clean, crisp, and elegant single malts. Produced in Arctic Norway, their whiskies offer a delicate balance of fruity brightness and oak maturity. Key flavour characteristics include:

  • Fresh apple and green pear notes

  • Vanilla sweetness and gentle spice

  • Soft toasted malt on the mid-palate

  • A clean, slightly dry, mineral-like finish
