History and Background

Founded: Built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the shore of Loch Indaal, Islay.
Name Meaning: From Gaelic, roughly meaning "brae by the shore" or "shore slope."
Location: Situated on the western side of Islay, on the Rhinns peninsula.
Ownership: Revived in 2001 by independent bottler Murray McDavid after years of closure. Acquired by Rémy Cointreau in 2012.

Production and Capacity

Stills: Uses two wash stills and two spirit stills.
Annual Capacity: Produces about 1.5 million litres of alcohol per year.
Equipment: Retains original Victorian equipment, including an open-top mash tun and wooden washbacks.
