A brief History
Cragganmore, Speyside Region, Scotland. Founded in 1869
Cragganmore: Speyside's Gentle Giant
Cragganmore might not be the loudest voice in the Speyside crowd, but it’s definitely one of the most intriguing. Tucked away near Ballindalloch, it was founded back in 1869 by John Smith — a man with whisky-making running through his veins. He’d previously worked at Glenlivet and Macallan before deciding to build his own legacy on the banks of the River Spey. The spot he picked was clever: it had spring water from Craggan Burn and easy access to the railway, which meant barrels could move out fast and efficiently.
What makes Cragganmore stand out is its balance. It’s not chasing trends or drenching its malts in heavy peat smoke. Instead, it focuses on complexity and finesse. Its whisky has this refined elegance — layers of fruit, spice, and soft oak that unfold slowly. It’s the kind of dram that doesn’t demand your attention straight away, but keeps you coming back for another sip.
Owned today by Diageo, Cragganmore remains a cornerstone of Speyside's whisky heritage and continues to charm those who want more depth from their dram without being overwhelmed by it.

Cragganmore is known for its smooth and layered whisky. Think baked apples, spiced honey, and the comfort of toasted cereal. There’s a richness from dried fruit and subtle oak spice, all rounded off with a warm, soft finish. It’s the kind of dram you can settle into — not flashy, just deeply satisfying.
