A brief History
Dalmunach, Speyside Region, Scotland. Founded in 2015
Speyside's sleek, modern whisky machine - rooted in old ground
You won’t find ivy-clad stone walls or century-old stills at Dalmunach. What you will find is sleek copper, sharp architecture, and one of the most efficient distilleries in all of Scotland — quietly making waves from the banks of the River Spey.
Opened in 2015 and owned by Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard), Dalmunach is a new kid on the block with a serious job: producing top-quality malt whisky to support some of the world’s best-known blends. But despite its industrial purpose, there’s an elegance to what Dalmunach is doing. It was built on the site of the old Imperial Distillery, and while the tech is new, the heart remains steeped in tradition.
From the air, the building even mimics a barley sheaf — a subtle nod to whisky’s agricultural roots. Inside? A quiet hum of stainless steel and polished copper turning out a modern Speyside spirit with clean, fruity, and malty character. And although most of the output goes into blends, a few lucky single cask and independent bottlings have slipped out into the wild — offering a glimpse at what Dalmunach is really capable of.

Dalmunach is known for its light, fresh, and fruity character — the kind that makes a perfect backbone for blends but also drinks well on its own. The spirit often leads with orchard fruit, vanilla, and honey, followed by soft cereal notes and just enough oak spice to bring balance. It’s Speyside through a modern lens — no peat, no fuss, just clean, easygoing malt.
