From Forests to Flavour – A Look Inside Fercullen’s Irish Whisky Journey
You’ll find Fercullen nestled just outside Dublin in the charming town of Powerscourt – yes, the same place known for gardens that look like they’ve been plucked from a postcard. But instead of flowers, we’re here for something even better: whisky.
Fercullen is the creation of the Powerscourt Distillery, a relatively new player in the world of whisky, but one that’s earned serious attention. Though the distillery was established in 2018, the name Fercullen goes way back – it’s the old Gaelic title for the area. There’s a nice blend of old and new here, both in name and in the whisky itself.
One of the most interesting things about Fercullen is its connection to Master Distiller Noel Sweeney, a legend in Irish whiskey who previously helped shape Cooley. His fingerprints are all over this range – balanced, smooth, full of flavour, and very, very drinkable.
Fercullen is proudly Irish, but it's not trying to copy the big names. It’s carving its own path, with character and elegance, from triple-distilled single malts to accessible blends. It’s a young distillery with an old soul – and if you’ve not tried it yet, this might be your sign.
