Tucked away in South Ayrshire, this facility was established in 1963 by William Grant & Sons—yes, the same folks behind Glenfiddich and Balvenie. But Girvan isn't a single malt distillery. Instead, it's a powerhouse of grain whisky production, built to fuel blends like Grant's and other global labels.
Now, you might not see “Girvan” plastered across bottles at your local shop, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t everywhere. It’s the engine behind the smoothness in many blended whiskies. Girvan’s technology-focused approach and huge output have made it a central player in the whisky world—without needing the spotlight. It’s also where the company developed the experimental and luxurious Ailsa Bay single malt distillery, located right on the same site.

Visitor Centre
Girvan Distillery is a working grain distillery and does not currently have a visitor centre open to the public. However, Ailsa Bay, located on the same site, may feature in future visitor experiences through William Grant & Sons.
