Launched by The Glasgow Distillery Company in 2014 (but named in honour of the city’s original distillery founded in, you guessed it, 1770), this modern producer is all about reviving an old whisky-making tradition with a slick, urban twist.
Located in Hillington just outside the city centre, it was the first single malt distillery in Glasgow for over 100 years. Since releasing its inaugural whisky in 2018, Glasgow 1770 has quickly gained fans thanks to its bold and clean spirit, its commitment to quality, and its stylish, contemporary vibe.
With small-batch production, copper pot stills, and a bit of Glasgow attitude, this distillery has already made waves in the crowded Scotch whisky world — and it’s just getting started.
