Everything you need to know about Glenallachie Distillery

A brief History

GlenAllachie, Speyside Region, Scotland. Founded in 1967

Speyside Spirit, Independent Soul

Tucked into the wooded hills just outside Aberlour, GlenAllachie (pronounced Glen-Alla-key) is one of Speyside’s newer stars — even though it’s been around since 1967. For decades, it quietly produced whisky for blends. But in 2017, everything changed. And changed fast.

That’s when Billy Walker, former master of GlenDronach and BenRiach fame, took the helm. He didn’t just buy a distillery — he bought a canvas. And with that, GlenAllachie transformed from a behind-the-scenes blender’s workhorse into a flavour-packed single malt that’s making serious waves with whisky fans.

Today, GlenAllachie is known for its rich, bold, and sherry-forward style. It’s proudly independent, craft-driven, and not afraid to throw some big flavours your way. If you love cask strength releases, sherry bombs, or single casks with attitude, you’ll find plenty to love here.

Distillery Facts

GlenAllachie Distillery is located near Aberlour in Speyside and was founded in 1967 by Mackinlay McPherson.

For much of its history, the distillery operated mainly as a supplier of malt whisky for blends and remained relatively unknown as a standalone single malt.

Its profile changed significantly in 2017, when the distillery was acquired by Billy Walker, Trisha Savage, and Graham Stevenson, forming The GlenAllachie Distillers Company. Under this ownership, GlenAllachie was repositioned as a premium single malt brand with a strong emphasis on cask management.
