A brief History
Glendullan, Speyside Region, Scotland. Founded in 1897.
The Quiet One from Dufftown That's Worth Shouting About
Nestled in the famous whisky town of Dufftown, Glendullan might not get the same attention as some of its neighbours — but it probably should. This Speyside distillery has been quietly doing its thing since 1897, producing soft, fruit-forward single malts that often slip under the radar. Glendullan was one of the last distilleries built during the Victorian whisky boom, and while it had some stop-start moments in its early life, it found its rhythm.
Owned today by spirits giant Diageo, most of Glendullan’s output goes into blended whiskies like Old Parr, particularly popular in markets like the US and Latin America. But every now and then, a single malt bottling surfaces — and it’s a treat. Think green apples, honeyed cereal, and a touch of spice. It’s no-nonsense Speyside done right.
If you’re looking for something a bit off the beaten path, Glendullan is the quiet overachiever you’ll want to keep on your shelf.

Glendullan is renowned for its light-bodied, fruit-driven whiskies. You’ll often get crisp green apples, a little pear drop sweetness, and biscuit-like malt — with a fresh, grassy backbone. Some releases aged in bourbon casks offer creamy vanilla, while sherried versions bring in a soft spiciness. It’s subtle but layered, like a mellow Sunday morning in a glass.

DCL was absorbed into United Distillers → now part of Diageo
In 1972, Diageo actually built a second Glendullan distillery next to the original one. The newer site took over production, and the older one was mothballed in 1985. So technically, the current Glendullan is “Glendullan 2.0” — but it carries the original character forward.

Overview & History
Glendullan Distillery is located in Dufftown, Speyside, and was founded in 1897 by William Williams & Sons.
The distillery was built during the late Victorian whisky expansion period and became an important supplier of malt whisky for blends.
In the 1970s, a second modern distillery was constructed adjacent to the original site. The original distillery was later closed, with production continuing at the newer facility.
