Everything you need to know about Jim Beam Distillery

A brief History
Jim Beam, Kentucky Region, USA. Founded in 1795.
Jim Beam is one of the biggest names in bourbon. If you’ve walked into almost any bar in the UK, you’ve seen the white label staring back at you. It’s familiar for a reason. The Beam family has been distilling in Kentucky since 1795, making it one of America’s oldest whiskey dynasties.
The modern distillery is based in Clermont, Kentucky, and produces huge volumes of bourbon each year. But scale doesn’t mean corner-cutting. Jim Beam sticks to the traditional bourbon recipe: at least 51% corn, aged in new charred oak barrels, and matured in Kentucky’s hot summers and cold winters.
The result is a style that’s sweet, oaky, and straightforward. Not built to be rare or collectible. Built to be dependable.
If Scotch has everyday blends that keep pubs ticking over, bourbon has Jim Beam.

Jim Beam bourbon is corn-forward, which means sweetness sits at the centre. You’ll usually notice vanilla and caramel first, followed by toasted oak and gentle baking spice. The rye content in the mash bill adds a touch of peppery warmth.
The texture is medium-bodied and smooth enough to sip neat, but it really shines in simple serves — bourbon and cola, Old Fashioneds, or over ice.
It’s not layered or complex like small-batch craft bourbon. It’s clean, sweet, and reliable.

Distillery Facts
Overview & History
Jim Beam is one of the most recognised names in American bourbon. The Beam family began distilling in Kentucky in 1795, making it one of the oldest continuously operating bourbon dynasties in the United States.
Production was interrupted during Prohibition, but the distillery resumed operations in 1933 under the leadership of James B. Beam — whose name remains on the label. Today, Jim Beam is produced in Clermont, Kentucky, and forms part of the Beam Suntory portfolio.
It is the world’s best-selling bourbon brand.
