Yamazaki distillery, also called Suntory, was founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii. The distillery originally produced wine, inspired by Western culture. It wasn’t until 1923 when Suntory released whisky. The distillery soon became a household name for both wine and whisky, and still are to this day.
