Why Buy Rare Scotch Whisky?

Rare and hard-to-find Scotch whiskies are great to collect or enjoy on a special occasion. They also make an excellent gift for any Scotch whisky fan. Each bottle holds a story behind its creation and each sip offers a taste of history. This makes them truly one of a kind. Due to their long ageing process they are of high quality and have developed deep flavours.

One of our oldest and rarest bottles is the Macallan 1967 18 Year Old Bottled 1980. It is a single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1967 and matured in sherry casks. Its limited production has made this a prized bottle and a valuable investment piece.

What qualifies a Scotch whisky as "rare"?

A Scotch whisky is considered “rare” for several key reasons. It may come from a limited production run or special release, making it difficult to find. Rarity can also be due to exceptional age, unique maturation or a notable history behind the bottle. Additionally, if the whisky comes from a distillery that has since closed, it can never be produced again, which significantly increases its value and appeal. These factors make rare Scotch whiskies highly sought after by collectors, as they are not readily available in stores.

How should I store rare Scotch whisky?

Rare and old Scotch whisky bottles should always be stored with extra care, as they are valuable and expensive. Keep bottles in a cool, dark and dry place, away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, as these can alter the whisky's flavour and colour. Ideally, use a dedicated whisky cabinet or display shelf in a shaded area that protects the bottle while still showcasing it elegantly. This ensures your rare Scotch remains in the best condition for years to come.
