Rye Whiskey

We provide a limited selection of rye whiskey from America’s most popular distilleries. Be it a renowned Jack Daniel’s bottle or a rare Whistlepig dram from Vermont, you are bound to find something for every occasion.

Rye whiskey was invented in Pennsylvania in 1750. A rather sorrowful story, farmers and immigrants tried to craft a dram similar to that of their home country. As such, the reminiscent whisky quickly became a favourite across the USA.

Best Rye Whiskey

The best rye whiskey is thought to be Jack Daniel’s or Whistlepig, but this really depends on your tastebuds. The spirit is often spicy or peppery with a licorice or anise aroma. Though, rye whisky produced in multi-production distilleries is more likely to be sweeter.

We recommend a spicy main course to enhance the flavour, whereas, brie or salmon or calm these notes. Pretzels and roasted nuts make for the perfect light snack, or you can balance the taste with pecan or apple pie. Discover the best rye whiskey in our range.

Where is rye whiskey made?

Rye whiskey was first created in Pennsylvania in the 1750s and is now made across the world. The USA is predominantly known for producing rye whiskey but it’s made in other countries too, such as Canada, England, Germany and France.

What does rye whiskey taste like?

Rye whiskey is known for its spicy, peppery flavour and is made from a mash of at least 51% rye grain. Rye is naturally spicier than other grains such as corn and wheat and is usually described as having a dry finish. The flavor of whiskey changes with age. A younger rye whiskey tends to have a spicier taste, while an older rye whiskey’s flavour can develop the longer it’s left in its cask.

How should I drink rye whiskey?

Rye whiskey can be enjoyed in various ways, depending on your taste. It can be sipped neat for a bold, spicy flavor or served over ice for a smoother, more mellow experience. Rye whiskey is also a key ingredient in classic cocktails, such as the Manhattan or the Old Fashioned. Its spicier profile adds depth to cocktails but also makes it enjoyable to drink on its own.
